Our Chianti Classico Casanuova di Nittardi Vigna Doghessa 2014 received by the Italian Sommelier Guidebook Bibenda the highest award the 5 Grapes! And this is the second year in a row! Thank you dear Team for making even in a challenging year as 2014 such an elegant and pure Sangiovese.

Casanuova comes from the south/east facing single vineyard Vigna Doghessa that is 450 meters high. The vineyard is planted 100% with Sangiovese. The soil is full of Galestro and Alberese rocks. It is a young vineyard that thanks to a particular clonal selection of Guillaume and high density planting is producing only very low yields per hectare already at this young stage. After 2-3 weeks fermentation with little pump overs and some punch downs the wine ages for 14 month in used 500 liter barrels. To blend the different barrels we keep the wine a few month in concrete before bottling it.

The 2014 label and wrapping paper were created by the Chinese Artist Hsiao Chin.
